The AYCO is a fast-paced, performance-oriented ensemble. Rehearsals are held once a week, are generally 60-90 minutes long, and occur for 4-6 weeks prior to each performance. As such, members should be very comfortable on their instrument and be prepared and willing to self-study and rehearse their parts independently.

Musicians who desire a more instructional approach and educational environment for learning their instrument may prefer to build their confidence by first participating in the Mendocino College - (Lake Center) MUS-272 Symphonic Band before moving on to the AYCO.
